Upbeat Michael Appleton plans to use all his experience to guide Shrewsbury Town away from the murky depths of League Two.

The 49-year-old took the reins in late March with Salop already virtually doomed to relegation from League One.
However, he did enough to land a two-year contract at the end of the season, and hopes were high for an improved campaign in the EFL’s bottom division this term.
It has proved a struggle, though, and the Shrews went into yesterday’s home game with fellow toilers Newport in the relegation zone.
