Hartlepool’s Magnay banned for 6 games for spitting at a fan

By Hugo Varley

Hartlepool defender, Carl Magnay, has been handed a six game ban and fined £750 for spitting at a spectator during the club’s game against Wycombe Wanderers in September. The incident occurred after Magnay was sent off towards the end of the game at Adams Park.

The FA made a statement on the matter detailing that: “The charge, which (Magnay) denied at a personal hearing, was found proven following an Independent Regulatory Commission”.

In a separate statement, Hartlepool United said: “The club are extremely disappointed by the decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission. We will now await the written reasons for their verdict before deciding how best to proceed.”

Hartlepool’s statement ended by confirming that: “Carl still has our full and unwavering support.”
