Plymouth bring in Walton on loan

Christian Walton has joined League Two table toppers on loan from .

The loan move is somewhat of a homecoming for the 20-yer old goalkeeper who came through the Plymouth academy before leaving to join Brighton in 2014.

Walton made four appearances on loan at last season and has eight Under 20 caps. He has also made three appearances for Brighton, including a clean sheet in a home win against .

Plymouth manager Derick Adams has been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after first choice ‘keeper Luke McCormick suffered a groin injury in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy match against on 10 November.

Plymouth gave a start to back up goalkeeper James Bittner in Saturday’s 2-1 win at struggling . This helped to end Bittner’s remarkable run of not starting a League match for 4,991 days. However, with Walton’s arrival Bittner may have a tough job on his hands to secure another start against on Saturday.

Walton is expected to initially stay on loan at Home Park until January.
