Bristol City striker Wes Burns has signed on a youth loan for Fleetwood Town until the end of the season.
21-year-old Burns moves to Highbury after 17 appearances for City this term, and Cod Army boss Steven Pressley determined that Burns will see plenty of game time in his time with the relegation battlers.
“He’ll get game time here because we’ve got so many games in such a short period of time. It’s healthy for him and healthy for the group,” said Pressley on Burns, who has started just three league games in his career at Ashton Gate.
Pressley added: “From our experiences over the last two or three months we’ve been thin on the ground, and that has been really evident recently.
“Wes adds strength to our group as we prepare for a 17 game programme over such a short period of time.
“We’ve played a number of players out of position and have asked different things from them, with the likes of Conor McLaughlin playing in central midfield against Shrewsbury.”
Burns has garnered experience in previous loans at Forest Green Rovers, Oxford United and most recently at Cheltenham Town at the end of last season. He is in line to play against Scunthorpe on Saturday.
Happy to have signed @ftfc … Can't wait to get going now ⚽️🔥
