Colchester bring in Wayne Brown as caretaker boss

have appointed former defender Wayne as caretaker manager, following the sacking of Tony Humes last week,

Brown made 140 appearances for over a four year spell and had been in charge of the club's Under 18 side. He will be assisted by John McGreal who had previously been working with the Under 21 team. 

In a statement on the club's website, Colchester chairman Robbie Cowling said, “Wayne Brown and John McGreal have been asked to take charge of first team matters at Colchester United on a caretaker basis whilst with the help of my fellow directors, I determine the next full-time management team.

“I am pleased to say that they have both accepted those roles and I would like to express my thanks to them both for helping the club out

“I hope everyone involved with Colchester United can get behind Wayne and John and give them their full support.”

Colchester are currently just above the drop zone in 20th place. They face fellow sturgglers on Saturday.
