Danny Fox grew up in Liverpool and had never visited the South Coast before joining Southampton in 2011.
“Truth be told,” admits the 39-year-old, “I didn’t even realise that Portsmouth was a local derby until I got there. I soon found out!”
Fox was 25 and playing for Burnley when he was summoned to manager Eddie Howe’s office and informed that Southampton had lodged an offer.
