Northampton waiting on transfer amid Grant speculation

Justin says he is hopeful of completing the signing of another attacker as continue to plot a promotion bid.

After the arrival of highly-rated striker Billy Waters, and the return of Marc Richards, the have five forwards in their ranks, but are on the hunt for more depth in wide areas, with Joel Grant a potential option.

On Friday, we revealed Northampton were keen on the Exeter ace, with a host of other clubs also circling around the Jamaican international, and he could be the final piece of Town’s attacking puzzle.

While he remained coy on who the target was, Edinburgh did tell the Northampton Chronicle & Echo he had met with a potential new recruit, saying: “There is another player I have met, and we are waiting for him to make a decision.

“I think that player can fill a wide role and a striking role as well, so if we could do that deal then that would fill both those positions.”

Grant has a wealth of experience in the , having enjoyed spells at Aldershot Town, , and Town, and is capable playing on either flank, or through the middle if needed.

Edinburgh knows that sort of versatility could be key next season, as he trims his squad, saying: “We are going to go with a smaller squad, but one where players can play in different positions.

“It’s not so much about them being utility players, but being somebody who is versatile and is comfortable playing in a couple of positions.

“We want to get a couple of players in that are adaptable.”
