Dream Team: Steven Gillespie (Cheltenham Town)

The striker on loan from Fleetwood chooses his favourite XI from players he has played with or against in his career.

GOALKEEPER
Ben Williams – Hibernian

We played together at Colchester where he was brilliant but I also managed to chip him once when he was at Crewe, and I don't think that went down very well with him. I always tried to repeat the trick in training but he was having none of it.

RIGHT BACK
Brian Wilson – Colchester

I played with Brian at Cheltenham. I've put him at right back but he could play anywhere, I think he even found himself playing at left wing at times. He was very good, it was just a shame he suffered from some bad injuries.

CENTRE BACK
Markus Babbel – Retired

I managed to play a few games with the Liverpool reserves. Markus was coming to the end of his career but was one of the best players I have ever played with. I was probably a bit in awe of him.

CENTRE BACK
Paul Reid – Town

Paul had a big left foot on him. He was an old fashioned centre-half, and also influenced the dressing room. A lot of players take up golf and get away from the game when they retire but I can see Paul going into management or coaching.

LEFT BACK
Johnnie Jackson – Athletic

He had unbelievable quality with his left foot. He was also a very funny lad. He came from Tottenham and was very sure of himself but had the ability to back it up.

RIGHT MIDFIELD
Scott Murray – Retired

He was coming to the end of his career when we played together at , but he was so lively, he would just go past players as if they were not there. He absolutely loves the club and is actually back there working as the kit man. There is a holiday photo of him in arm bands, goggles and a cork hat. He was just legendary.

CENRTAL MIDFIELD

I should never have played with him at Cheltenham, as he should not have dropped down to that that level. He came up with some important goals and was a really good lad.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD
Anthony Barry – Green

I played a couple of games with Anthony at Fleetwood last season. It was crazy since we started off together in the Liverpool U9s, went through the system together and then  joined up again.

LEFT MIDFIELD
Andy Mangan –

Andy is such a character, there's no off switch with him. I was with him at Fleetwood last season and he had such belief that he would back up on the pitch. Deserves to be playing higher than with Forest Green. It's a big shame.

STRIKER
Marcus Stewart – Retired
Marcus was at Bristol City with me when I came through there and he set me up with a through ball for my first goal for the club away at . I remember scoring and celebrating like I'd won the cup final or something. I'd love to have played with him in his mid-20s.

STRIKER
Neil Mellor – Retired

He was a couple of years older than me but we managed to play a few Liverpool reserve games together. He won't mind me saying that he was not the best player you had ever seen, but once you put him in front of the goal, he was such a threat. With his work rate, he was very much a role model for me.
