Newport County have moved quickly to dispel any rumours that boss is a contender for the vacant managerial role at Town.

Westley was only appointed in charge at Rodney Parade at the start of last month, having taken over from Warren Feeney with the Welsh club bottom of League Two.

The former , Preston and manager has overseen five games since taking over at Newport, and finally claimed his first win when his side claimed an impressive 3-1 victory over play-off chasing on Saturday.

The Exiles still find themselves rooted to the bottom of the , but with Grimsby looking for a new boss after Paul Hurst left to take over at Shrewsbury last week, a club spokesman said: “‘We have not had an approach for Graham and we would not welcome one.”

The Mariners are keen to find a new manager quickly, and continue their hunt for a play-off place, having begun their fist season back in the in brilliant form.

Former , and Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave has been linked with the role, as has Solihull Moors boss Marcus Bignot, but it looks highly unlikely that Westley will take the reigns at Blundell Park.
