manager has hailed midfielder Matt as ‘exceptional’ after his brilliant return to the side.

After missing three games due to suspension, Taylor returned to the ‘ midfield for last Saturday’s game against , and he played an integral role in the win, setting up the first goal and scoring the third with a sumptuous free-kick.

And despite clearly still possessing the same talent on the ball that made his name in the Premier League at clubs such as Portsmouth and , Page has also praised Taylor’s work ethic.

He told the Chronicle & Echo: “What Matty brings you, his enthusiasm and his work-rate, I thought was exceptional.

“He played like he was making his debut on Saturday, and I thought he led by example and the free-kick was just the icing on the cake. It was exceptional.”

Taylor is expected to continue dictating Town’s midfield on Saturday in the first-round of Cup, when they take on Ryman Premier side Harrow Borough at Sixfields’, a game Page is rightly wary of.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the Cobblers boss said: “There will be upsets in this competition and we’ve got to make sure that it’s not us on Saturday.

“It’s a great opportunity for Harrow but we just need to focus on what we do. We want a good cup run and we showed in the how great it can be to get a team like coming to town.
“We’ll be giving absolutely everything on Saturday to get a positive result but we know we are in for a tough test.”
