Six years on from his retirement, Appiah now wants to become a manager, with his ultimate dream being to one day take charge of the Black Stars.

The 37-year-old visited last week to learn the ropes for a manager’s involvement within a club.

Appiah observed both the first team and the academy and spoke to several leading figures at the club, including Mark Noble, Patrice Evra and Joe Hart, as well as coaches Terry and Jack Collison and head of medical services Gary Lewin.
