The central defender was 22 and had played just a handful of first-team games for Newcastle when he publicly let rip at his team-mates in the wake of a dismal 3-1 defeat to Southampton in April 2016.
“We’ve got flair players, tricky players, players with loads of talent,” he said.
“But if you don’t have that fight, hunger and desire, it doesn’t matter."
