Leicester City are having a shocker, but sacking Marti Cifuentes would not fool anyone – least of all the club’s supporters.
A new manager could not play up front. Nor would he be permitted to seize control of a broken recruitment process, or provide strategic advice to an owner with no apparent sense of direction.
Until those issues are rectified, it won’t make the slightest bit of difference who occupies the dugout.
That is why there have been no concerted calls for Cifuentes’ head, despite a succession of blunt and insipid defeats.
