Patrick Bamford, who this week joined Sheffield United as a free agent, has seen more flak over the years than the average bomb disposal expert.
Maybe it’s his privileged background and posh accent. Maybe it’s his lack of pace. Maybe it’s his (somewhat overblown) reputation for missing sitters.
Whatever the case, the 32-year-old striker is a player that supporters - often his own - love to hate.
In reality, Bamford has always been a player who needs rhythm and confidence to perform at his best.
