Best mate at the club?
My car pool group of Ryan Edwards, Paul Mullin and Lee Molyneux as we travel in together. There are three or four car pool clubs that travel from Liverpool and Manchester. There’s good banter and occasional pranks played on the other cars, so we have to stick together.
Last to buy dinner?
Peter Murphy has very short arms and deep pockets. I think he could peel an orange in his pocket with boxing gloves on. He’s that tight. When we have collections for birthdays or similar he’s always the last to pay, but he doesn’t like to admit it.
Worst dressed?
Dean Winnard, without a shadow of doubt. There’s a special place for bad gear in the dressing room and his stuff is up there four days out of five. He’s not happy about it. Every time he goes out of the dressing room, it’s his gear that gets hung up there.
Dressing room DJ?
The last couple of years it’s been Aaron McGowan. He’s a young kid and was only 16 when he made his debut, but he came into the dressing room and took over the music. It’s all club stuff. Some of it is good, which the older lads don’t get, but I’m still young at heart so I like it.
Late for training?
Aaron McGowan again. He’s always last on the training field or on the bus when we’ve got to travel. He’s been fined quite a few times because his time-keeping is all over the place. I think he spends too much time in front of the mirror in the morning.
Teacher’s pet?
The lads would say Peter Murphy. He’s our club captain, but unfortunately he’s had a long-term cruciate ligament injury. He’s been watching a lot with the gaffer while he’s been out, so the lads started calling him the teacher’s pet.
First on the dance floor?
Aaron McGowan is quite sure of himself. He’s confident, so he’s one of the first. He loves his moves and his girly pout, too. I hang back and keepan eye on the younger lads.
Most likely to disgrace themselves at the Christmas party?
There are a few here. Aaron Wildig signed from Shrewsbury in 2015, and for the first six months he didn’t speak. Then, all of a sudden, it was as if we had signed a new player.
Worst tattoo?
Dean Winnard said he got it when he was 14. It’s a British bulldog on his chest. He also has ‘Deano’ on his bicep, in case he forgets his name.
Partial to a sunbed?
We had a snapchat the other day from Andrew Fleming of himself on a sunbed with his jeans on, saying he was ready to go for a team bonding activity the next day.
Going to make the best manager?
Can I say myself? I am doing a bit with the reserves at the moment and I have done my B licence. I will do my A licence next when I can commit to it, but I still feel I have a lot to offer on the field at the moment.
