Luke Higham signs new Blackpool deal

defender Luke Higham has signed a new contract to keep him with the Tangerines until at least 2017,

The full back recently broke into Blackpool’s first team after graduating from the club’s academy and has started the last six games, including Saturday’s 2-0 victory over .

Higham told Blackpool’s official club website, “I’m really pleased to sign a new deal at Blackpool, I grew up as a fan of the club and making my league debut was a really proud moment for me.

“I’ve been waiting for an opportunity in the team and I think I’ve settled in quickly. I know that I need to keep working hard in training to impress the manager and hopefully keep my place, though.”

The 19-year-old is a former season ticket holder at Bloomfield Road and made his debut for the club in a 2-1 victory over Port  in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in October.

Blackpool are currently fighting to avoid back to back relegation and their cause was helped with Saturday’s victory.. The Tangerines now sit in 21st place in , four points above the drop zone.
