Former Leicester City striker Paul Dickov believes his old club have enough quality in their ranks to launch a serious push for the Championship play-offs.

The Foxes have struggled for consistency since dropping out of the Premier League.

A 2-1 victory over Norwich City last weekend ended a five-game winless run, with Leicester now sitting 12th in the Championship after 15 matches.

Dickov – who made over 100 appearances for the club – insists the squad still boasts Premier League quality and can mount a serious challenge under Marti Cifuentes, in an exclusive interview with Best Betting Bonuses.

Premier League experience

When asked if the Spaniard has been given a squad to secure an immediate return to the top flight of English football, the former Scotland international said: “I think it’s a difficult one as well.

“Marti will have his own way of playing. I looked at their team at the weekend when they beat Norwich and they’ve got such good players in the squad, players with a lot of Premier League experience in the squad.

“They’ve got Jannik Vestergaard, Asmir Begovic, Harry Winks, and Patson Daka.

“They’ve got some really good players for the Championship and you know that the owners are not investing like they did before.”

He added: “But Marti’s a really good manager and the squad of players that he’s got there, I’m pretty sure he will be able to get the best out of them.

“He needs to manage the style of playing with the experience that they’ve got in there as well.

“They’re sitting in and around the playoffs at the minute, and if that’s the case at the turn of the year, into February, I see no reason why they can’t make a big push for the playoffs.”
