LET’S KEEP REDS’ CARABAO CUP EXIT IN PERSPECTIVE

LIVERPOOL have taken plenty of stick for fielding a de facto youth team in Tuesday’s 5-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Aston Villa.
But let’s assess the situation rationally. Yes, it’s a bit distasteful. With £3.5m on offer for winning the Club World Cup, plus a global audience to impress, Liverpool’s decision to send the first-team to Qatar was clearly commercial.
