Matt Godden completes Stevenage move

Striker Matt Godden has joined League Two side Stevenage after scoring 30 goals in the National League South last season for Ebbsfleet.

The 24-year-old dropped down into non-league in 2014 after leaving Scunthorpe. Goddon came through the youth ranks with The Iron and spent time on loan with Brigg Town, Ilkeston Town, Dartford and Tamworth.

The striker’s first team opportunities were limited at Scunthorpe and he made just 19 appearances in his five years with the club before signing a two year deal with Ebbsfleet

After confirming his move back to the Football League Godden told Stevenage’s official club website,”I dropped down to Ebbsfleet to rejuvenate and get regular football.

“The main aim was to bounce back and make a name for myself in the Football League and I thank Darren Sarll and Stevenage for this opportunity.”

Stevenage finished in 18th place in League Two last season and will be hoping for a better finish this time around as Sarll approaches his first full season in professional management.
