Shrewsbury Town fan Gavin Cowan says taking charge of the League Two strugglers is a dream come true.
The 44-year-old was appointed on Thursday and replaces Michael Appleton, who departed after a 1-0 defeat at Cambridge on Tuesday left the Shrews just two points above the relegation zone.
Cowan has spent the last three years at Brackley Town, winning promotion from National League North last season and establishing the part-time outfit in the National League this term.
