League Two Team of the Week

Goalkeeper 

Chris Day (Stevenage) 

Day held firm to prevent ‘s strike force from scoring in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Broadhall Way. The-40-year-old shot stopper made a number of brilliant saves and his performance was praised by manager Teddy Sheringham after the game.

Defenders

Andy Yiadom (

Barnet’s right back defended well but also made a number of dangerous surges down the wing as Barnet came close to stealing all three points against . Yiadom’s defensive exploits helped Barnet to their fourth clean sheet of the season as the match ended 0-0.

Sonny Bradley (Crawley) 

The 24-year old center back put in a sterling shift as Crawley recorded their third win in four league games as they overcame Bristol at the Broadfield Stadium.

Ryan Tafazolli (Mansfield) 

Tafazolli did well to contain ‘s forwards to just two shots on target as Mansfield came away as 3-1 winners at Field Mill on Saturday. The left back joined The Stags from Southampton in 2012 and has since established himself as a first team regular.

Ben Davies (Portsmouth) 

Portsmouth were denied all three points at Brunton Park on Saturday by a last minute equalizer. However, there were plenty of positives for Pompey to take away from the game and one of them was the performance of Ben Davies. The 34-year-old led Portsmouth from the back line and put in a number of crunching tackles as his side came within seconds of victory.

Midfielders 

Alfie Potter (Northampton) 

Despite their off the field problems Northmapton continued their fine form on the field by surging into the automatic promotion places with a 2-1 win at Notts County. Alfie Potter put in a man of the match performance as he spurred the Cobblers on to their fourth win in five league games.

(Oxford) 

Roofe scored the only goal of the game as high flying Oxford won at Dagenham on Saturday. The 22-year old hit an exquisite set piece finish with five minutes left on the clock as his curling free kick tucked into the left hand corner of the net.

Ryan Harley (

Exeter recorded a hugely impressive victory at top of the table in the Devon Derby. Harley was instrumental in this victory, grabbing both goals in the 2-1 win at Home Park. The 30-year old put Exeter ahead after half an hour with a coolly taken penalty before doubling The Grecians’ advantage nine minutes later when he tricked his way past two Argyle players before steering a delightful shot into the far corner.

Sean McConville (Accrington) 

McConville scored Accrington’s first goal as John Coleman’s side edged passed Cambridge in an entertaining game at the Abbey Stadium. The 26-year-old collected the ball after a Billy Kee dummy and lifted a shot into the top corner from just inside the area.

Strikers  

Jay Simpson (

Simpson returned to goal scoring form as he scored twice in the O’s 3-2 win over York at Brisbane Road. Simpson is the League’s top scorer having netted 13 times already this campaign.

Rhys Murphy (Crawley) 

The Oldham loanee scored twice in two minutes as Crawley edged passed Bristol Rovers. Murphy poked home his first goal after nine minutes before firing a sublime strike into the top right hand corner a matter of seconds later.

Manager of the Week

(Exeter)  

The long serving Exeter boss recorded a special victory against top of the table Plymouth in the Devon Derby to help Exeter move up to 13th place in the league.
