Brackley Town 1-3 Burton Albion: Tyrese Shade hat-trick earns Brewers FA Cup win at Saints

A Tyrese Shade hat-trick earned Burton Albion a 3-1 win at Brackley Town in the second round of the FA Cup.

Tyrese Shade

A Tyrese Shade hat-trick earned Burton Albion a 3-1 win at Brackley Town in the second round of the FA Cup.

Brewers boss Gary Bowyer was full of praise afterwards for the Saint Kitts and Nevis striker.

The League One outfit overcame a tricky tie against opponents that knocked out Notts County in the first round and Bowyer singled out the 25-year-old.

He said: “Tyrese is exciting, he’s got bags of potential. I like watching him play.

Swagger

“He’s got a swagger that is not an arrogance, but a confidence in his ability.

“He’s got the ability to go past people, and we’ve seen that tonight. I’m delighted for him with his first career hat-trick.

“He’s come from the National League and straight into playing a lot of League One football – perhaps more than we thought he would initially.”

Match action

Burton made the early running, and should have done better after nine minutes when Julian Larsson put a cross by Shade wide.

They took the lead after 13 minutes when Shade picked the ball up and unleashed a fierce drive that was too powerful for Jonny Maxted.

However, Brackley hit back in the 25th minute when Michael Nottingham turned in a Kyle Morrison header following a Jack Price corner.

Second half

Burton looked for the lead again after the break, and Jack Armer tested Maxted with an effort from distance.

The visitors continued to press forward, and Kegs Chauke forced Maxted to tip over the bar after 57 minutes.

They looked on course to book their third-round place when, after 73 minutes, Shade broke the offside trap from just inside his own half and his powering run led to his second goal of the evening.

There was no sign of another Brackley heroic comeback, as Shade slotted home a third after 88 minutes from a Jake Beesley cross.

Burton will now travel to Boreham Wood in the third round.
