Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts says he “unequivocally” accepts an extended six-game ban for the high challenge that hospitalised Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Roberts, 30, was shown a straight red card in the eighth minute of last weekend’s FA Cup defeat at Selhurst Park after kicking Mateta in the head attempting to clear his lines.
The French striker departed the stadium in an ambulance and eventually required 25 stitches for a laceration to his left ear.
Under normal circumstances, Roberts would have been subject to an automatic three-game ban.
