Seagulls star Kayal ruled out of Ipswich encounter

Brighton will be without one of their key-men, Beram Kayal, for tomorrow’s clash against Ipswich at Portman Road.

The swashbuckling Israeli, who is almost ever-present in Chris Hughton’s team having missed just five of the last 56 games, hurt his ankle in Saturday’s win over Barnsley.

He was forced off at half-time, after providing Glenn Murray with an assist for the opening goal, and replaced alongside Dale Stephens by Oliver Norwood.

He is also an early doubt for Saturday’s trip to Hillsborough, when the Seagulls take on Sheffield Wednesday.

Manager Hughton told The Argus: “He’s still a little bit sore, so he will miss tomorrow, then we will assess it over the next day or so and see if, hopefully, he can be fit for the weekend.

“The problem always when you go through a period like this is the games come thick and fast. If we think we have any chance for Saturday, then the turnaround for Tuesday is too quick.”

Left-back Gaetan Bong is also missing from Brighton’s squad to face the Tractor Boys, after he picked up his fifth booking of the season on Saturday.

Hughton will choose from youngster Rob Hunt, who made his league debut for the club in their last away outing at Burton, or West Brom loanee, Seb Pocognoli, to replace Bong.
