Aaron Wilbraham signs new Bristol City contract

Bristol City captain Aaron Wilbraham has committed to stay with the club until the end of next season after putting pen to paper on a new contract.

The 36-year-old has netted seven goals in 41 appearances this season to help the Robins climb above the Championship drop zone with eight games left to play.

Robins boss Lee Johnson told Bristol City’s official club website: “I am absolutely delighted, both on a personal and professional level, to be working with Aaron for another season at least.

“I have been hugely impressed in the short time we’ve been working together – not only with his playing ability, but also the way he conducts himself and deals with others around him.

Wilbraham joined Bristol City on a free transfer from Crystal Palace in 2014 and helped the club to the League One title last season.

The Knutsford-born striker has played his whole career in England apart from a brief stint with Norwegian side Moss FK in 2000.

In total, Wilbraham has scored 130 goals in 562 career appearances.
