Cardiff bring in Feyenoord’s Lex Immers on loan

Cardiff have completed the signing of Lex Immers on loan from Feyenoord until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old has scored 31 goals in 99 appearances for Feyenoord since joining the Rotterdam club from ADO Den Haag in 2012.

Cardiff chief executive Ken Choo told the club’s official website: “Lex is a great addition to our team, who has the technical ability and pace that we are looking for. More importantly, he has the ability to put the ball in the back of the net.

“The management of the club is constantly looking to strengthening the team. We have a strong belief this season and shall continue to push forward.”

Immers has worn the number 10 shirt at Feyenoord since he joined the club.

The attacking midfielder told reporters: “I’m very excited to be coming from one of the biggest teams in the Netherlands to the biggest team in Wales.

“It’s always been an ambition of mine to play in the UK and I’m looking forward to getting the opportunity to do that, here at Cardiff City.

“Obviously it will depend on the Manager come the weekend, but if selected then I’ll be ready. I’m looking forward to playing.

“Back in the Netherlands, supporters like the fact that I work hard, go from box to box, press and keep running. That’s what I’m going to bring to Cardiff City.”

Cardiff are currently under a transfer embargo for failing to comply with financial fair play regulations but are still able to bring in loan signings.

The Bluebirds are sitting in 9th place in the Championship and face relegation threatened Rotherham at home on Saturday.
