Following Saturday’s heavy defeat to Crystal Palace, Newcaslte United manager Steve McClaren has decided to recall defender Mike Williamson from his loan spell at Wolves.
Williamson joined Wolves on an initial one month loan in October but he impressed manager Kenny Jackett enough for the deal to be extended until January.
The 32-year old made five appearances for the West Midlands club helping them to three clean sheets before his loan spell was cut short this morning.
Wolves manager Kenny Jackett told Wolves’s official website “We understand the situation and we thank Steve McClaren and Newcastle for letting us take him on loan.
“We thank Mike as well and since he has been here we have kept three clean sheets in five games, only conceding three goals, which is a good record.
“He has been a credit to himself as a professional and we wish him all the best as he goes back to Newcastle.”
Wolves are currently sitting in 15th place in the Championship and face a trip to Neil Redfearn’s Rotherham on Saturday.
