Football League Young Player of the Year Award nominations announced

Three nominees have been announced for the Football League Young Player of the Year Award. Fulham’s Moussa Dembele, Leeds’ Lewis Cook and Walsall’s Rico Henry will all be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Deli Ali who picked up the award last season.

Moussa Dembele (Fulham)

Dembele’s performances have been a real bright spot in what has been a rather disappointing season for Fulham fans. The 19-year-old striker has been in prolific goal scoring form, netting 19 league goals to help pull the West Londoners away from the Championship drop zone.

Dembele’s form attracted plenty of interest in the January transfer window and it seems likely that Fulham will have another battle on their hands to keep hold of the France U20 international over the summer.

Lewis Cook (Leeds)

The 19-year-old has been a commanding figure in Leeds’ midfield this season helping the club to sit 11 points above the relegation zone.

The academy graduate is under contract with Leeds until the end of next season and scored his first ever league goal for the club in spectacular circumstances against Fulham in February.

Rico Henry (Walsall)

The 18-year-old left back has firmly established himself as a first team regular in the Walsall side this season and has won plenty of plaudits along the way,

Henry has been on the books at Walsall since the age of 11 and signed a three year contract with the club in October. Following a storming start to the season, the Birmingham-born defender was called up to the England U19 squad for the first ever time the following month.
