The raw emotion in Lee Gregory’s retirement statement said it all. The 37-year-old didn’t see the end coming, or at least not so soon.
“I thought I was going to play another three or four years,” says the former Millwall, Stoke and Sheffield Wednesday striker, who’d scored ten goals in 20 League One games for Mansfield before a seemingly innocuous knee injury ended his season in February.
