MARINERS FINED FOR CUP GAFFE

CARABAO CUP

GRIMSBY Town say they have undertaken a ‘thorough review’ after being fined £20,000 for fielding an ineligible player in their famous Carabao Cup win against Manchester United.
The Mariners beat United 12-11 on penalties after a 2-2 draw a week and a half ago, but it later emerged that the registration of Clarke Oduor was made at 12.01pm on the day before the fixture, one minute after the noon deadline.
The club self-reported the breach upon discovery the day after the fixture had been completed.
