Kai Wagner, Birmingham City’s new left-back, boldly self-identified as an “assist machine” upon completing a £2m switch from Philadelphia Union last week.

True to his word, the 28-year-old German took just six minutes to create his first goal on English soil.
Wagner was the most advanced attacking player on the pitch when he collected Paik Seung-ho’s lofted ball high in the left-hand channel against Coventry last weekend.
