Exeter’s Tisdale in ‘no rush’ to sign contract extension

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has said he is relaxed about his current contract situation with the League Two leaders, saying he is in ‘no rush’ to sign a new deal.

Tisdale, the Football League’s longest serving manager having been in charge at St James’s Park since 2006, is nearing the halfway point of his two year notice period – with Exeter‘s Supporters Trust opting to renegotiate with the Grecians boss.

City chairman Julian Tagg said last month that a new deal was ‘close’, but Tisdale has insisted he will remain patient regarding a contract extension.

“We’ve got a long season ahead of us, there’s no imminent rush for anybody,” the 44-year-old told BBC Sport.

“I’m concentrating on the team and those things will sort themselves out in due course. There’s no hesitation on my part. Led by me, we’re all very focused on what we’re doing.

“The contract needs to be sorted out at some point one way or the other, but I’m fully focused on this Saturday and it’s not something that’s prompted me to take my eye off the ball and lose focus.”

Tisdale has followed up last season’s play-off final heartbreak with the club’s best ever start to a league campaign, the Grecians sitting two points clear at the top of League Two.

They will travel to fourth place Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow in one of the division’s marquee match-ups.
