Leeds sign Rob Green

Leeds push on with other transfer targets as England international walks through the doors at Elland Road

have signed experienced goalkeeper Rob Green on a one-year contract.

Green joins the Whites as a free agent following his release by at the end of last season, and becomes Garry ‘s fourth signing as new boss.

The 36-year-old told leedsunited.com: “It’s exciting to be here. This is one of those opportunities where the first phone call asking if you want to come and play for Leeds is a very quick one. It was a ‘yes’ straightaway.

“I’ve spoken to the manager and I know what he’s got in store and what he’s planning. What he said really resonated with me and re-affirmed my feelings towards this opportunity. “After long wait over the summer, the last few days have happened very quickly and now I’m ready to go.

The international has made over 600 career appearances and said he was relishing being a leader in among a young squad at Elland Road.

“I’ll join the squad as one of the older members of the group and the role I’ll have to play with my experience really appeals to me,” said Green, formerly of and .

“I’m here for however the manager needs me. He’s got a young team of players, who, he says with the right guidance, will really flourish.”

Green has achieved promotion to the with every club he has played for, the objective Monk has been tasked with and has been gearing towards with the signings of Marcus Antonsson, Kyle Bartley, Hadi Sacko and Matt Grimes.
