Nelson joins Oxford as three others leave Argyle

captain Curtis Nelson has joined on a two-year deal after turning down the chance to stay at Home Park.

Also leaving Argyle are striker Reuben Reid, full-back Kelvin Mellor and forward Tyler Harvey who had all been offered new deals.

Nelson had been the subject of interest from League One play-off winners last month, with the Pilgrims rejecting a bid from the Tykes in the hope the 23-year-old would opt to stay.

Nelson becomes the sixth signing of the season for and is likely to partner Chey Dunkley in Michael Appleton’s defence, considering the exit of Johnny Mullins.

Appleton told United’s official club website: “He’s a good player and another who has played a lot of games for his age. He is a great competitor and a good organiser and I think a lot of fans will have been impressed when he played against us over the last couple of seasons.
