Crawley Town are set to complete the sale of the club to a Turkish consortium within 24 hours, according to a club statement.
The Red Devils confirmed that a deposit had been paid to club representatives by the Turkish group and that a contract was all that needed to be finalised.
The takeover is led by Ziya Eren, the president of Turkish 1. Lig side Kayseri Erciyesspor who currently sit in 16th in Turkey’s second tier and run the risk of back-to back relegations after failing to beat the drop last season.
Eren is the owner of steel manufacturing giant KMC, a company that produces 5% of Turkish steel. Last year the company announced an annual turnover of £117m.
A Crawley Town statement read: “The club can confirm that a deposit for the proposed sale of Crawley Town FC to a Turkish investor has been received by the club’s solicitor and an exchange of contracts is due to take place in the next 24 hours.
“Both parties are working towards completing the sale of the club by early next week, although this is subject to Football League approval of the takeover relating to the Owners and Directors test and the completion of all legal agreements.”
The takeover is unlikely to be fully completed until early next week.
