Sam Byram has pulled out of talks with Everton after choosing to join West Ham United instead.
The Leeds United defender was unavailable for last Saturday’s derby against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday as he was in Liverpool for contract talks with Everton’s representatives.
Yet without a West Ham bid being accepted, the 22-year-old is now pursuing a transfer to east London with Slaven Bilic declaring his interest.
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino has said: “I’m really sorry for Everton because they really acted like gentlemen, but Sam chose West Ham.”
Byram has made 143 appearances and it is believed West Ham have matched Everton’s bid of £3.7m.
