Chesterfield have sacked Dean Saunders following their 4-0 defeat at home to Swindon on Saturday.
A brace from Nicky Ajose consigned the Spireites to their fourth successive loss and chairman Dave Allen has decided to cut Saunders loose as they slip towards the relegation zone.
Allen had appointed Saunders as the successor to Paul Cook in May but after 23 games in charge he now begins his search for his third manager in six months.
Allen said: “We will not be rushed into making a decision on a new manager.”
He also stated that an interim management team will soon be named to take charge of first-team duties.
Chesterfield are 16th in League One four points clear of the relegation zone.
