The Championship returns after a weekend of international football. Here, we look at how a number of players performed in the European qualifiers.

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a 90th minute winner in a friendly win over Paraguay before netting two against Lithuania on Monday to boost Serbia’s European Championship hopes.

Hull City winger Kamel Grosicki started in both of Poland’s Euro qualifiers as the Poles became the first nation to qualify for next summer’s tournament with wins over Latvia and North Macedonia.

Club teammate Markus Henriksen started for Norway with Fulham midfielder Stefan Johansen captaining the side in their 1-1 draw with Spain in Oslo.

Wigan Athletic forward Kieffer Moore scored his first international goal to earn Wales a point in Slovakia on Thursday.

Charlton Athletic duo Jonny Williams and Tom Lockyer also featured for Ryan Giggs’ side alongside Swansea City pair Joe Rodon and Conor Roborts.

The Championship-based pair also featured in Tuesday’s stalemate against Romania, who selected Reading striker George Puscas for both their qualifiers this week.

Puscas netted the first of Romania’s goals in a 3-0 win over the Faroe Islands that leaves them third in Group F one point behind Sweden.

Middlesbrough midfielder Paddy McNair scored twice in Northern Ireland’s 3-2 friendly victory in Prague on Monday.

McNair also started Thursday’s qualifying defeat against the Netherlands in Rotterdam.

Hull striker Josh Magennis had put Michael O’Neill’s side ahead but three late goals moved the Dutch top with Northern Ireland dropping to third.

Brentford full-back Henrik Dalsgaard helped Denmark to a crucial 1-0 win against Group D rivals Switzerland.

In the same group several Championship players were selected by Mick McCarthy as the Republic of Ireland were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw in Georgia before losing in Switzerland last night.

Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph saved a second-half penalty but couldn’t prevent his side from falling to 2-0 defeat in Geneva.

The loss means the Irish will likely have to beat Denmark in their final match next month to have any chance of qualifying.

In the U21 qualifiers Leeds United striker Eddie Nketiah was the standout performer netting a hat-trick against Austria, as England U21s continued their perfect start to their qualifying campaign.
