Mark Hudson’s seamless segue from caretaker to permanent manager of Cardiff City was inevitable.
As is his eventual failure. Hudson has earned some decent results since succeeding Steve Morison in September, and won plenty of admirers for his attempts to implement a progressive style of play.

But the fact remains that the Bluebirds entered the World Cup break just a point above the relegation zone and have scored fewer goals (17) than any team in the division.
