midfielder Ben Osborn said he was left ’embarrassed’ after his side crashed out of the Cup on Saturday.

The Reds lost 2-0 at home to fellow strugglers in what was their fifth consecutive defeat, and Osborn felt strongly about the manner in which his side succumbed to their cup exit.

Speaking to Radio Nottingham, Osborn said: “It was shocking, especially in the second half. It was two teams low on confidence in the first half.

“They grew in the second half. At times they were playing around us and I felt embarrassed out there at times.”

It has so far been another tough campaign for , who have found it difficult to find any sort of consistent form, and their displays have not been helped by speculation off the field.

Rumours of captain Henri Lansbury leaving the club, for example, have not helped the atmosphere at the County Ground, but Osborn believes going back to basics will help his side pick up some momentum.

“Everyone is trying to come together.” said the 22-year-old midfielder.

“I just think 50-50 battles on the pitch, they [Wigan] won the majority, which has been the same in recent weeks.

“At the moment, we think we are better than we are. We need to go back to basics, we need to be disciplined and hard to break down, instead of being absolutely all over the place.”
