Who Will Win Football League Divisions in 2016/17?

The English Premier League has millions of fans, and it’s great, but let’s not forget its little brothers; The Championship, League One and League Two. There is some great, massive clubs plying their trade in the English Football Leagues. With that in mind, just who will win their respective divisions in the 2016/17 EFL season? Here’s our predictions:

The Championship

It’s hard to look past Newcastle United. They are one of the biggest clubs in the country. However, despite relegation to the second-tier, it’s hard to believe they’ll struggle.

They have talented players like Jonjo Shelvey and Andros Townsend. Also they’re armed with ex-Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez. He won’t struggle here, will he?

After their last stint in this division, it’s hard to see anything other than utter domination coming from the Toon this time around.

League One

Peterborough United are usually there or there about when it comes to League One contention. However, after two miserable seasons they’ve armed themselves with a new manager in Grant McCann. Despite their 16/1 odds with Coral, they will have a chance of winning the league if they keep their key players.

He, alongside, his blend of experienced and young players, are considered favourites to contend for promotion. With the entire club united again from this appointment of Grant (a fans’ favourite), it’s hard to see anyone stopping them if they hit good form. It’s likely that’ll happen, but it’s all about how he’ll cope with any bad form they might suffer on the odd occasion.

With stars like Chris Forrester and Marcus Maddison finding the net, it’s hard to believe they’ll be anywhere but first, even if the bookies disagree.

League Two

Doncaster Rovers have struggled. That much is true. However, they’ve kept many Championship players who should help their team in League Two.

Manager Darren Ferguson knows how to get a team out of League Two. As does key new recruit Tommy Rowe. Rowe was sought after by EPL and Championship club recently. The fact that the versatile player is in League Two should do nothing other than help Rovers get back in to League One.

Donny should be in contention, and if they rid the previous bad mood, they may have the title sewn up a few months before the season ends.

Although the EPL should entertain next season it’s clear the EFL will provide its own entertainment. With these three teams trying to bring silverware home, it’s hard to see anyone stopping them.

From top to bottom it’s going to be an exciting season. One you won’t want to miss.
