Slow start has put PNE in great peril

PRESTON North End have spent the last few years operating like an inverted version of Usain Bolt.
The Jamaican sprint legend was a famously dreadful starter, his two-metre frame creaking out of the blocks with all the urgency of a mummy rising from the crypt.
By the end, however, those lanky limbs were propelling Bolt beyond his rivals at roughly the same speed as a racehorse.
“I stopped worrying about the start,” he shrugged after collecting 100m gold at the 2012 Olympics. “The end is what’s important.”
