Blackburn Rovers have parted ways with Valerien Ismael after an eight-game winless run has left the club in the Championship relegation zone.
The Frenchman, who took charge at Ewood Park in February 2025, steps down with the club three points from safety.
Under Ismael, Rovers narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season after the 50-year-old took over from John Eustace, who left to take the job at Derby County, then embroiled in a relegation battle.
Unfortunately for the Lancashire club, the roles have been reversed this season, with Blackburn fighting for survival while Derby push towards the top six.

Part ways
Just seven wins so far this season have prompted the club to part ways with the former Watford, West Brom and Barnsley manager.
A statement from the club confirmed: “Valerien Ismael has today left his position as Blackburn Rovers’ head coach by mutual consent.
“Ismael joined the club in February 2025; however it has been mutually agreed that he will step away from his role with immediate effect, along with assistant head coach Dean Whitehead.
“Blackburn Rovers would like to thank Valerien and Dean for their efforts during their time at the club and wish them both the very best for the future.
“The club will now begin the process of appointing a new head coach and will make no further comment until an appointment is confirmed.”
Next up for Blackburn is a home fixture against basement side Sheffield Wednesday, with three points crucial in their fight for Championship survival this season.
