MORECAMBE legend Jim Bentley says the crisis engulfing the former Football League club should never have been allowed to happen - and is hoping the arrival of a regulator will finally put an end to reckless owners destroying football clubs.
Bentley, 49, spent nine years playing for the Shrimps and another eight as manager before leaving the club in 2019 following a disagreement with owners Jason Whittingham and Colin Goldring.
