Bolton face goalkeeping problems with Amos out for between four to six weeks

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that goalkeeper Ben Amos could be out for up to six weeks after he suffered ankle ligament damage in Saturday’s draw against QPR.

Amos has been an ever-present starter for Bolton this season, making 35 appearances during the campaign.

As news of Amos’ injury broke yesterday evening Neil Lennon attempted to draft in a goalkeeper on an emergency loan deal, however the Football League ruled that this would not be possible.

Bolton are currently under a transfer embargo for failing to abide by Financial Fair Play regulations and the Football League deemed that this meant a possible emergency loan move could not go ahead.

Lennon will now have to turn to backup goalkeeper Paul Rachubka, who started in last night’s defeat to Birmingham.

The 34-year-old Californian born shot stopper joined Bolton in September and has previously represented a host of clubs including Huddersfield, Blackpool and Oldham.

Last night’s defeat to Birmingham leaves Bolton in 23rd place in the Championship, seven points adrift of safety.
