Middlesbrough sign Gaston Ramirez on loan

Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Gaston Ramirez on loan from Southampton until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old joined the Saints from Bologna for £12 million in 2012 and has since scored eight goals in 55 appearances for the club.

After finding first team appearances hard to come by at Southampton, Ramirez spent last season on loan with City where he made 22 appearances.

Middlesbrough boss spoke of his delight at bringing in the Uruguayan international, telling the club’s official club website, “He is a really good player who knows the league and the country.

“He has international experience and has played in the World Cup. He is another good player for us.

“He is the kind of player who wants to join us and that shows he is committed to us. He has played in the and I think it is important to bring in players with this kind of experience.”

Middlesbrough are currently sitting in 2nd place in the following Saturday’s defeat to Nottingham .
