SOUTHEND defender Jason Demetriou is confident he is close to making a first team return.
The experienced rightback played 56 minutes for Southend’s U23 side in a 4-1 win over Fleetwood at Roots Hall on Friday afternoon.
The 31-year-old was restricted to just 22 league starts last season after suffering a knee injury twice, first in November and again in April.
But now, he believes those troubles are firmly behind him.
