Daggers sack Burnett

League Two’s bottom club departs with its manager after 3-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers

Dagenham & Redbridge have sacked manager Wayne Burnett after a barren run of one win in 16 league games.

The 44-year-old had taken over from John Still following his departure to Luton back in 2013, but within the space of four days both managers have parted company with their clubs.

A club statement said: “Wayne provided the club with stability following John Still’s departure to Luton Town in February 2013, initially in an interim basis and was the fifteenth longest serving manager in the League.

“He departs the Chigwell Construction Stadium with the club’s very best wishes.”

He led the east London side to mid-table finishes in the last two seasons, ending 9th and 14th, despite working with one of the lowest playing budgets in the division.
