Shaun Derry appointed as new Cambridge United boss

Cambridge, Cambridge United, Derry, EFL, Shaun Derry, SkyBet League Two, The U's

Cambridge United have announced the appointment of Shaun Derry as their new manager.

The 37-year old was previously manager of his boyhood club Notts County and performed a sterling job to keep the Magpies in League One in 2014.

However, Derry struggled last season and was sacked in March after Notts County went on a run of only winning three league games in 24 matches.

Derry replaces Richard Money in the dug out who parted company with Cambridge at the beginning of the month.

The U’s are currently sitting in 18th place in League Two and face a difficult trip to Micheal Appleton’s second placed Oxford United on Saturday.

It is unclear whether Derry will bring in his own backroom staff and whether he will be in the dugout on Saturday. These questions are likely to be answered in a press conference which has been scheduled for 3pm today.
