Cole joins Coventry on loan

Coventry City today confirmed the signing of former England international Joe Cole on loan from Aston Villa until 22 November.

The 33 year-old has gained 56 caps for England and has won the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup with Chelsea. Cole was also named Chelsea’s player of the year in 2008.

Sky Blues manager Tony Mowbray expressed his delight at the transfer, telling reporters “I’m sure he’ll have a fantastic impact

“He has watched us play several times this season. He likes the way we play and has shown a real enthusiasm to come.”

Cole was in the stands to watch Coventry’s 0-0 draw with Blackpool on Saturday and the club have announced that the midfielder will wear the number 14 shirt during his time at the Richoh Arena.

The new signing will be eligible to against Rochdale at Spotland tomorrow night.
